Das Schleppen erfolgt dafür im Gegenzug nur mit halber Geschwindigkeit.\u003cbr style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"\u003eDer Einsatz einer Umlenkrolle, englisch Snatch Block, ist immer dann sinnvoll, wenn erhebliche Zugkraft notwendig ist um ein Fahrzeug zu bergen, z.B. wenn es mit dem Unterboden auf dem Grund aufsitzt und alle Räder frei drehen.\u003cbr style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"\u003eWeil die Winde beim Einsatz einer Umlenkrolle nur noch mit halber Kraft ziehen muss, verbraucht sie auch erheblich weniger Strom. Bei einer Zugkraft von 8.000 Pfund braucht eine Winde mit max. 12500 Pfund Zugkraft 246 Ampere, bei 4.000 Pfund sind es nur noch 154 Ampere. Solche Ströme kann eine herkömmliche Lichtmaschine nicht bereitstellen, sondern ein erheblicher Anteil davon kommt, insbesondere im Leerlauf, aus der Batterie. Dazu kommt, je höher der Strom ist, der durch die Leitung von der Batterie zur Seilwinde fließt, desto höher ist der Spannungsabfall auf der Leitung. Und aus diesem resultiert eine geringere Leistung des Motors. Beispielsweise bei einer 3 Meter langen Leitung (hin und zurück somit 6 Meter) mit 25 mm² Querschnitt beträgt z.B. bei 245 Ampere der Spannungsabfall 1,03 Volt.\u003cbr style=\"box-sizing: border-box;\"\u003eEine Umlenkrolle wird wie folgt genutzt: Das Windenseil wird auf die doppelte Länge abgespult, um die Umlenkrolle gelegt, zurück zum Fahrzeug geführt und an diesem eingehakt.
